Oh scandalous, I just couldn’t believe it, I’m gutted absolutely gutted. I went down in ’74 with them I went down there and we won the last game of the season 3-0 against Everton but were the first victims of the ‘three up – three down rule. We thought we got through but sadly Birmingham won so we still went down. It took us 4 years to get back and that’s the problem it’s a hard league to get out of, but you know you’ve got the right man there he has been and done it before. He’s got the ammunition there, they’ve had a great three seasons, and done ever so well, and with rave reports about young players like Theo Walcott coming through there are good things so we should keep our fingers crossed.
If we look at the premiership this coming year, do you think that’s already in the pot?
No, definitely not I think Arsenal and Man United will still be up there and fighting for it I promise you but I think there’s only three teams in it though, at the end of the day Chelsea have done so well but Arsenal I think will be the biggest threat not Man United because they got so many ruckers in the camp at the moment and that’s what you don’t want you need harmony in the team, you need a great dressing room and these players don’t seem to have it at the moment.
So if we look at the premiership from scratch – day one – Arsenal – just a few words on how you think these teams are going to do.
Yes I think hopefully they will finish second!, but I think they’ve got a great side. There are some great youngsters in there which I like as well, they’re very enthusiastic, very hungry and they haven’t won anything so they’ll be up for it. They will be a big threat.
