The Peter Osgood Interview - 2005 -1
Ossie, you’ve been very busy recently and we haven’t talked to you for a while. The web site has been up and running for a year now, how has it been going?  You had hits from all over the world?

Well that’s the good thing about it – anyone anywhere can get on here and be a part of it.  It’s certainly not a corporate thing, just a way of being able to communicate with my fans wherever they are!  It’s nice to have my own online shop too.  It means we can give the fans something extra… For instance, where else could you get say, a shirt or photo signed with; “Happy 50th birthday Dave – Have a great time.. Ossie”  - or whatever other message anyone wants?  That’s what I like – being able to add the personal touch. Also we try to keep the prices reasonable. So yes, it’s great and we intend to keep improving and expanding it in order to give the fans what they want.

You just had a big hit from Australia- the Peter Osgood Appreciation Society in Australia.

Yes there’s a supporters club down there in Western Australia-The Official Chelsea Supporters Club and it’s always nice to hear from them.  I went there on my first trip, I was down there for six weeks, I was only 17 years of age and my first son was born when I was out there. When I came home, he walked up, shook my hand and told me his name was Anthony!! It was that long ago…
Also out there at the time were Terry Venables and George Graham, Barry Bridges, Bert Murray, Bobby Tambling – all the great players at Chelsea who came through at that particular time. It was a fabulous place to go and I enjoyed it very much. After all these years, it was really very nice of them (OCSCWA) to drop me a line- So thanks to Huseyin , Paul  and Steve for taking the time to mail me.

We haven’t spoken certainly since last season and that season ended in both disappointment and Celebrations. You got a foot in both camps really with Chelsea and Saints and varying fortunes for both clubs. Firstly Chelsea, do you reckon they bought that league?

The money certainly helped. Lets be fair, he has gone out and bought quality players but at the end of the day money doesn’t mean anything. You’ve got to go and get the right manager who can buy the right players and that’s what he has done. He’s got a great side, when you win it by 11 points, you know that’s awesome.  That’s such a turnaround in one year – it’s fantastic – and hopefully we can go on from there.  Obviously I’m very disappointed for Southampton because I love the club and still work there and very disappointed but hopefully can do better this year.
